UPDATE (12/11/25) -- Over $15,000 of $30,000 Pledged
In April 2026, Boyd Meets Girl (Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd, and American cellist Laura Metcalf) plans to record its third album, Present Tense, at the Grammy award winning Sono Luminus studios in Boyce, Virginia, with multi-Grammy winning producer Elaine Martone.
Boyd Meets Girl’s first two albums have respectively received the following praise in Gramophone: “They play like one, with a harmony of purpose as sure as their intonation,” and “beguiling… fascinating… enchanting.” To date these albums have received over 5.5 million streams on Spotify alone.
This new album, Present Tense, will contain a unique blend of repertoire, for which Boyd Meets Girl is known, including new compositions and arrangements that have been commissioned and/or made by Boyd Meets Girl in the past few years, as they expand the repertoire for cello and guitar. The album will include works by Caroline Shaw, Chrystian Dozza, Stephen Goss, Yaz Lancaster, Villa-Lobos, Ravel, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Radiohead and more.
BUDGET: $30,000
- $8,000 for Sono Luminus studios to record, edit and master the album
- $8,000 for Elaine Martone to produce
- $2,500 travel expenses for Boyd Meets Girl and Elaine Martone
- $2,000 photography for album artwork
- $3,500 for PR for the album
- $6,000 for accompanying music videos
TIMELINE: Recording dates are set for early April 2026, with an album release late 2026 or early 2027
